Did you ever wonder how massive art installations are created? Here’s your chance to find out!
‘Alfombra’ or carpet is an expression of ephemeral art that explores traditional and collective art to create works that convey culture, environmental and social context from a specific community.
Meet one-on-one with the Mexican artist Alajandro Lira from Alfombristas Mexicanos Collective who creates ephemeral ground tapestries with everyday materials, and comes all the way from Mexico to install a beautiful Alfrombra at Federation Square.
And the best part is that you can be part of the creative process! Come with your family and friends and collaborate in the installation of the Alfombra, while you enjoy some Day of the Dead treats – from 11am – 5 pm.
After 5pm enjoy the celebration with music, dances, family activities and plenty of selfie opportunities!
